Christmas Eve was so magical this year and we had a great time.
We had pizza for dinner and then made cookies for Santa and then went on a fun drive down Christmas Street. Not the same as it was back in the day but still really fun and the kids thought is was cute. On our way we read Luke 2 and "Night Before Christmas" and then we got home and did a Morris tradition of asking the kids what they hoped they would get for Christmas the next day from Santa.
They were so excited to leave cookies, milk and carrots for his reindeer
Cutest little Santa I've ever seen!
Poor Austin was absolutely devastated when we told him that our elf, Charlie was going to have to leave to go back to the North Pole. You would have thought he was losing his best little friend. He's such a sweet boy so he was telling him that he wanted him to stay until after he opened his presents...fortunately Charlie heard him and stayed a little longer.

*We had such a great time opening gifts this year with the kids and they really understood the magic of Christmas and Santa. But more importantly, they really tried to understand the "actual" Christmas story and could kind of tell it on their own by the end of the month. I'm so grateful that they kind of understand why we celebrate Christmas and are grateful for the birth of our Savior. They are so sweet and I'm hoping that more and more they will gain a greater love of the Savior and His life, love, ministry and atonement. I know I'm so grateful for my Savior and his birth and the life that He led and the example he provided for each of us. But most of all, I'm grateful for his atoning sacrifice for us and I know His watchful care and love for each one of us*
