I put a quick post on FB but since most people like a few more details and this is my journal(ish), I wanted to add a little more about the birth of our 4th little baby, Logan Anderson Morris.
It all started on Saturday after the awesome Herriman/Riverton game at the "U". Spence is coaching again so we all went to watch too - perhaps not the best idea to climb all the stairs in the stadium but o-well...we had a great time. My sweet parents came and watched and helped too - the trips could not wait to wear their "mustang" shirts! They were so excited to wear them that Austin didn't put his down since Friday afternoon, including while he slept that night. He's so cute! They boys love watching daddy! Needless to say, it was a little hot outside and I didn't drink as much water as I should have and well, I started contracting Saturday night on and off. Here's a pic of us after the game and heading home.
I would have 3 or so contractions maybe 5-10 minutes apart and then they would stop for about 3 hours and then back again. But it wasn't as short lived as I had hoped. We had planned on my c-section being on Sept 1st (my due date was Aug 30th) but we figured for school and sports reasons that if I could hold out until the 1st, that would be better. Anyway, I tried my very best but Logan had a different birthday in mind. At 1:41am on the 28th of August, I started to have contractions that were 6 minutes apart and didn't quit! I kept hoping that they would so I put off telling Spence for an hour or so and tried to ignore them (ha-ha). I went in and told Spence (I've been sleeping on the couch for the last 6 weeks or so cause my ribs hurt so bad when I laid down) anyway...I told Spence and asked for him to give me a blessing to calm my body and mind down. And it did! I took a bath around 330am after calling the hospital and asking them what to do since I didn't do the "labor" thing last time. They told me that even if I was contracting but not dilating, I would have to wait for a bit to do the c-section so I waited it out a little longer and a little longer and then could not take it so I got Spence and we headed off to the hospital - but not before I got a quick pic :)
39 weeks 5 days
We arrived at the hospital about 545am and got paperwork going and all my pre-natal info up and going and got a hold of my awesome doc.
Before we headed into the OR for the c-section, Spence had to get into his spacesuit - poor guy was probably just as tired as I was. Thanks for your support sweetie
I look amazing don't you think? UGH!! No thanks but these are the shots that make it real - I'm smiling because I'm in between contractions
So as to not scare anyone with the OR pics, here is the first pic of Logan after he got a little cleaned up - he's got quite a set of lungs on him just like Rio did!
LOGAN ANDERSON MORRIS
7 lbs 15 oz 19 1/2 in - born at 8am
Little cuddly dude - so sweet!
Daddy with Logan in the recovery room - such a proud papa
I think the nurses thought Spence was a little abnormal because he wanted to give him a bath himself and not just watch...do most dad just watch??? Anyway, he loved giving him a bath and I love this pic - he's the best daddy ever!
Feeling all refreshed after his bath - cannot believe he was almost 8 lbs - that is Jax (3 lbs 10oz) and Austin (4 lbs 2 oz) and even a few oz of Rio put together! Crazy to think how small they were and then to look at Logan and think how tiny he is too! We are so lucky and blessed!
Mama and Logan with smiling Uncle Marc in the background - I know still don't look awesome but honestly, at least when this pic was taken I was coherent :) and not totally drugged like earlier that day - ha-ha
Aunt Kristin was holding Logan for this pic and I loved it! What a cute little face he has - love his little, dark eyes.
Anyone think he looks like any of our other kids? We're still making guesses...
We love you so much already Logan! You're going to be so loved by your brothers and sister - what a lucky little boy you are. Can't wait to know you better! It's been a great experience to have one little guy to hold onto in my room and not have to travel to the NICU to see him. When they handed him to me, I wasn't quite sure what to do but I've loved having him to hang out with one on one these last few days. Cannot say how grateful we are and how blessed we feel to have him in our family.
Congratulations Summer and Spencer, he is beautiful. I cannot even imagine having a baby that weighs what he did, how awesome for you guys. You guys really have been super blessed. I am glad all went well, I love his name. You always look so darling no matter the picture- I love the picture with Spence and him. Happy for your Family.
